The INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology Editorial Team is excited to invite you to collaborate on our fifteenth issue (II/2025). The main theme of this issue is “Radio art”.

The year 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the Radio Belgrade’s series Sound Workshop (Radionica zvuka). Established on the grounds of an already significant effort to create experimental radio dramas and radiophonic compositions in Radio Belgrade, the series became a long-lasting legacy of tendencies in radio art creation in Yugoslavia/Serbia. Going through the rich archive of the series, we hear about the cultural and political history of the past 40 years, as well as aesthetic preoccupations of the times, changing relations to technologies, changing soundscapes and relation to the environment, and, more or less, open space, that has always been indicative and reflective of the current political climate.

This occasion gave us the impetus to invite collaborators to share their insights on the history, as well as the future of radio art. Thus, we invite collaborators to submit papers regarding (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Historical perspectives on radio art and radio archives

  • Radio art and music

  • Radio ecologies

  • Radio art, soundscapes and soundwalks

  • Role of sound designers / sound engineers

  • Festivals and competitions as promotional and program exchange platforms

  • Radio art and “old” technologies; tape and radio

  • Radio art and “new” technologies; radio art in the time of clouds, streamings and podcasts

INSAM Journal has four sections: The Main Theme, Beyond the Main Theme, Reviews, and Interviews. The main topic predefines only The Main Theme section; in other sections, we welcome your contributions related to contemporary art and media theory, artistic music, performing and visual arts, and technology.

This issue will be published in December 2025. For detailed information on manuscript preparation, see Authors Guidelines on our website – https://insamjournal.com/index.php/ij/about/submissions. Send your proposals (theme, short abstract and keywords) by July 1, 2025, to insam.journal@gmail.com, and, if accepted, submit full papers by September 15, 2025, via our website – https://insamjournal.com/index.php/ij/about/submissions.
