CfP: Pedagogy and Practice in Popular Music Education – 2025 APME Conference (22.-24.7.2025, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) Deadline: 15.2.2025

The Association for Popular Music Education is pleased to announce our first-ever European conference, which will be held July 22–24, 2025, at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in Liverpool, UK.

The APME conferences offers a space for our multi-faceted and fluid community to come together to learn from and with each other. In doing so, we serve as a vibrant ecosystem that helps to promote and advance popular music at all levels of education, both in the classroom and beyond. We invite you to connect with, learn from, and contribute to our community as we consider our past while looking toward the future of popular music education.

Conference theme: Pedagogy and Practice in Popular Music Education

The Association of Popular Music Education (APME) European Conference 2025, hosted at Liverpool Institute for Performance Arts in Liverpool, invites scholars, educators, musicians, practitioners, and industry professionals to submit proposals for papers, presentations, and workshops that explore innovative practices, foster critical discussions, and share emerging trends in popular music education. This year’s conference focuses on the intersection of pedagogy and practice in popular music education, highlighting key issues in diversity, social justice, and the evolving role of music education in our communities.

Submissions will open on December 1, 2024
Submission window has been extended to February 15, 2025
Invited presenters will be notified on March 1, 2025
