Event: CNCS Online Workshop: Writing an Abstract (15.02.2024)

In anticipation of our upcoming PGR Conference 'Hard Times for the Nineteenth Century and for These Times', the Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies (CNCS) at Durham, Newcastle, and Northumbria Universities is pleased to announce that we will be running an online workshop on Thursday 15 February 2024 at 2pm GMT on writing an abstract in response to a Call for Papers (CFP).

The CFP can be found here:  https://www.durham.ac.uk/research/institutes-and-centres/nineteenth-century-studies/about/events/cncs-pg-annual-conference/
.
The session will discuss:
       • approaches to writing abstracts;
       • how to ensure your abstract is clear and concise;
       • how to tailor your abstract in response to a CFP; and
       • what content should be included in your abstract.

We will be hearing from three members of the CNCS community, who will discuss their own experience of writing a successful abstract – as well as talking about what they learned from those abstracts that were not accepted.
      • Margaret Gray (Newcastle University)
      • Annabel Storr (Durham University)
      • Eloise Scott (Northumbria University)

We will also be discussing what the conference convenors will be looking for in the abstracts we receive. Please come with your questions!

Above all, remember that the CNCS PG conference is designed to be a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive conference, particularly for those who have less experience presenting at conferences.

A Zoom link will be sent to all registered attendees in advance of the event.
