CfP: 18th International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (11.-13.06.2025, University of Oslo, Norway) Deadline: 10.01.2025

General Information

We are pleased to announce the call for contributions for the 18th International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus25) will open on the 4th of November 2024. This year's event will be hosted by the RITMO Center at the University of Oslo in Norway on the 11-13 of June 2025. This will be a hybrid conference, so we warmly welcome presentations in the form of live talks, virtual talks, or posters.

What to Submit

The SysMus conference series is dedicated to representing the diversity of topics and methods that are summarized under the umbrella term 'systematic musicology'. Therefore, submissions addressing any of the following subjects are welcome, but not limited to: Music perception, music cognition, music and emotions, music therapy, music and well-being, music modelling, music information retrieval, music sociology, music education, music technology, music and culture, music philosophy, music theory and analysis, composition, and performance.

Abstract Format

Abstracts should be no more than 300-500 words in length excluding references and keywords. Submissions should include headings and follow a format appropriate to the research, for example:

Empirical research (including prospective, ongoing, and completed projects):

Theoretical research/reviews
