4th IASPM Pop Talk "40 Years of Popular Music Perspectives" (online)

IASPM BENELUX POP TALKS 4: Celebrating an IASPM birthday!

What marked the beginning of international Popular Music Studies as an academic discipline? The most common answer is arguably the “Popular Music Perspectives" conference held at the University of Amsterdam in June 1981 that directly led to the establishment of IASPM.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this event, IASPM Benelux invites you to the 4th IASPM Pop Talk "40 Years of Popular Music Perspectives", on June 22nd from 17:30 to 19:30.

As contemporary witnesses, Philip Tagg, who co-organized the conference at the time, Alenka Barber-Kersovan, Franco Fabbri, Simon Frith and Stan Rijven will share with us their memories of the event as well as their views on the developments in Popular Music Studies in the four decades that followed.

The current chair of IASPM international, Rubert Till, will also address the guests for this special occasion!
