In this month's ARC seminar, teacher and multi-instrumentalist Dave Bristow tells the story of his work with Yamaha on the development of the factory voices for the DX7 digital synthesizer. The DX7 was a truly groundbreaking synthesizer that changed the face of electronic musical instruments and came to define the sound of the 1980s. Dave is internationally recognized as one of the important contributors to the voicing of FM synthesis, co-authoring a text-book on the subject with Dr John Chowning. So hang up your analogue VCOs and knob-laden keyboards as we delve into the cool and sleek new world of FM synthesis!
