Salary: £36261 to £48677 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. 

Applications are invited for the above post based at the University of Nottingham, University Park Campus. The Department of Music is one of the UK’s leading centres for teaching and research in Music. The appointee to this post will play a central role in continuing to develop the Department’s provision in response to changing student demand. The successful candidate will have expertise in popular music studies, and secondary expertise in any area that will enhance the department’s existing curriculum and research strengths. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: music performance, music industry, music education, music technology, and world music studies. The successful applicant will be expected to teach in at least two areas of the music curriculum, to conduct internationally excellent research (involving the production of research outputs and impact case studies for forthcoming national research assessment exercises), to attract external research funding, to supervise postgraduate research students, and to contribute to departmental administration. In addition to making a significant leadership impact in research and teaching, the role holder will participate in the Department’s organisation, management and strategic planning and will also contribute to the University’s strategic planning processes. The role holder will act as principal investigator on major research projects, take responsibility for the quality of the design of Music courses/programmes and contribute generally to the development of teaching and assessment in the Department.

Candidates must have a PhD at the time of application. They must demonstrate experience and achievement in popular music studies reflected in an emerging national and international reputation, evidence of a promising publication record and success in delivering teaching within an agreed quality framework. 

This is a part time, 29 per week, permanent position.
