The first IASPM-D-A-CH conference entitled „Conceptualizing Popular Music“, organized by the Cologne University of Music and Dance and the University of Siegen, was successfully held from October 24th to 26th in Siegen. Compared to our founding workshop in Berne in May 2013, the number of participants had more than doubled so that 86 IASPM-D-A-CH members and guests joined three days of exiting papers and lively discussions on the specific conceptualizations of popular music as a research object within different academic disciplines and traditions of thought.

Beyond the conference’s interdisciplinary arrangement, an international dimension was added by two key notes, held by Gerome Guibert and Eva Georgii-Hemming.
