Call for papers
In response to the growing interest in the study of popular music all over the world, the Estonian Music Library Association together with the Finnish Music Library Association, the Nordic branch of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music and the Tallinn University is pleased to announce a 2-day seminar with a focus on popular music studies and resources in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The seminar continues the series of Finnish-Estonian joint seminars in the field of music libraries and archives. Previous meeting took place in Helsinki in May 2016 and it was organized by the Finnish Music Library Association.
Popular music researchers, music librarians and archivists are invited to contribute with a presentation of 20-25 minutes related to wide variety of topics on Nordic and Baltic popular music which include but are not limited to following themes:
– popular music and archival resources
– research approaches and methodologies
– popular music and totalitarianism
– popular music and the Nation-State
– popular music industry
– popular music and society
– popular music, space and place
– transnational connections
– pop music festivals
– musical everyday of pop musicians
– popular music, gender and sexuality
– stylistic mapping
– touring
– enhanced music services in libraries
– data management in libraries
The seminar language is English. No seminar fee will be required.
