“Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology”

Faculty position in Ethnomusicology at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to: cultivate an active research agenda; teach a 2 and 2 course load; develop new courses in World Music in a specific area of specialization; offer courses in Field Methods, Global Pop, and, ideally, Jazz; guide student research; and participate in departmental and college service.

Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology preferred (ABD considered); open specialization (ability to teach jazz and/or music of the African diaspora strongly desirable, regardless of primary specialization); demonstration of outstanding scholarship evidenced by conference participation and publication; teaching experience; and interest in mentoring the department’s Jazz/World Music program.
