University of Sheffield:
“Restaging the Song: Adapting Broadway for the Silver Screen”

The University of Sheffield is proud to announce the programme for the “Restaging the Song: Adapting Broadway for the Silver Screen” conference. It will take place at the Workstation in Sheffield, UK from 14-16 May 2014 and will run alongside the Stagestruck! Film Festival (14-18 May) at the Showroom cinema (next door to the Workstation). Confirmed speakers from Europe and America include Geoffrey Block (keynote), Jeffrey Magee, Stephen Banfield, Cliff Eisen and Robert Gordon. Several book launches and additional events will be announced soon.
For the conference fee of £85 (£75 for students), delegates will gain access to the three days of the conference, tea and coffee on all three days, lunch on 15 and 16 May, and access to the exhibition of posters from musicals (including a wine reception on 14 May). Delegates will also be able to purchase tickets (on the day) for any of the seven screenings in the film festival at the discounted rate of £5.80 upon showing their conference badges. A major publication is planned as an initial output of the conference.
