Following six successful conferences on film music, the School of Music at the University of Leeds is hosting a 7th such international conference, but with a broader remit encompassing all aspects of Music for Audio-Visual Media. The Music for Audio-Visual Media Conference is part of the AHRC-funded research project The Professional Career and Output of Trevor Jones, and will run in parallel with the Royal Musical Association’s 50th Annual Conference; delegates may move freely between the two events as desired.
The conference committee welcomes and encourages submissions relating to all areas of Music for Audio-Visual Media, including but not limited to music in and for film, television, games and the internet. Proposals with brief abstracts (250 words) for papers of 20 minutes‘ duration should be submitted to email@example.com by Friday 21 February 2014.
Professor Gorbman’s keynote address will focus on the ‚heardness‘ of music in contemporary film and television, with particular attention given to the foregrounding of music by directors.
